We are SO very happy with the awesome piece that Will created for our new house. He has brought something that I could only dream about to life, and created a piece that will be looked at for years by our friends and family, all of whom are all extremely jealous of our fabulous door knocker! Thank you so much Will for making our door knocker so special and helping us express our "geekness" in such style!” I look at the door knocker and I get a thrill every time I see it!!! Also… You’re AWESOME!!! Thanks again

My wife and I engaged Will to design and supply a hand crafted unique iron gate for our rear fence entry. We live on a golf course with the fence facing the course. Apart from providing security the gate was to be a crafted piece that engaged interest when viewed from golf course or house sides. It also had to blend in with the aesthetics of the house, garden and fence. We found Will’s approach to the design, supply and installation very professional. Will and my wife worked together on the design. Will’s design flair and artistic ability made the process easy. From concept to final design Will was very receptive to ideas and quick to respond to any queries. We found the supply of the gate to be on schedule and Wills attention to detail on installation great. He was proud as we were of final product. He also advised us on how to maintain it in good condition. We are would not hesitate recommending Will for similar works.

We are absolutely delighted with the wrought iron sculptural piece that Will created for the front of our house. Based on forms from his previous work “Flock” Will designed a variation to meet our requirements. His approach was genuinely personal and highly professional in all aspects of the brief from design through to construction and installation. We recommend Will to anyone interested in sculpture.

Some years ago we designed an unusual, curved metal railing and handrail for our internal staircase. On discovering recently that it did not comply with current building safety codes we engaged Will to help with designing and installing 'leaves' into the offending spaces to overcome the problem. He designed, made and installed a product that was in total sympathy with the original using precise workmanship, attention to detail and expertise. Working with him on this project was a pleasure.  Our experience was very positive and we have no hesitation in recommending his creativity, workmanship and skill.

I lost one of a set of  swords that I had been using in "Circus Bizarre" since 1999 when in Italy for  "Guinness Records Italy "in early 2009 and  tried unsuccessfully to  buy in a replacement from Malaysia  where  I had purchased the set sometime around 1998. Apparently they have strict export restrictions on weapons that terrorists may use. Me, well I had just been lucky I guess when I bought them back as unaccompanied luggage.   I had tried to find a blacksmith to make me a replacement and had searched the greater Newcastle area to no avail. At the point of giving up I was given Will's name by a local engineering business and so came to meet Will.   Not only did I find Will to be a blacksmith and as my grand dad was a blacksmith, I have more than a passing familiarity with the trade, but Will is an Artistic Blacksmith. What a find he has turned out to be.   Will fashioned a sword for me that in the blade is so close to the originals as to be undistinguishable at anything except very close examination. He has finished the blade ready for plaiting and the job of finishing is worthy of the best metal polishers.   All very well one may say, but it is the handle that is the real "Masterpiece".  I had asked for a steel handle  of a similar  shape to the  cast plastic originals with a view to painting it black. What I ended up with is something that  is superficially similar but with  shaping and  touches to the  end that  mean I am going to plate the whole thing and  will have something that I would be proud to show in any company.   As I do use the sword for chopping watermelons, both in our show and for the odd Guinness Record the balance of the sword is very important and in this aspect the sword by Will is just so superior that comparison is pointless. He has the "Sweet Spot" in exactly the place where I would have asked for it if I had thought to ask.   So there you have it. A superb job by a great artisan in the true tradition of both blacksmithing and art.   Thank you Will from myself and the cast at Circus Bizarre. We will give the sword a  real test run with the Adelaide Fringe 2013 season !!

It is clear that Will puts as much care and thought into a little job as he does into a large one. Our wish for a windmill was quite straight-forward, yet he still managed to add his own character to the piece. We feel lucky to be adding one of his works to our view and look forward to following what we are sure will be a brilliant career!

After seeing Wills recent exhibition in Newcastle, I asked if he would mind creating a garden sculpture for me. Will came over and took in the surrounds,  measured up the area and listened with patience to some of my rambling ideas. Shortly after, he emailed me a few designs and when I saw the two leaf sculpture sketch I knew this was perfect. Now an exquisite metal leaf sculpture arches elegantly above my old wooden gates. Both leaves curve toward each other all but touching, the stems beautifully balanced. The installation of the work to the long wooden posts was carried out with precision and care. I feel very privileged to have Wills sculpture and am glad my neighbours can share it too. Actually, anyone who strolls down the alley behind Alfred street in Newcastle can take it in. Again, many thanks Will.

Having been on the lookout for a pair of old gates for our home in the Hunter Valley, we came across two old iron inserts in the yard of an antique dealer in Bungendore. We loaded them in the ute and headed north. The gate inserts lived in the shed for the next four years, not knowing who we could get to transform our find into elegant gates. By asking around we made contact with Will Maguire. Will was able to provide a creative solution to best treat the gate inserts. After an initial look at the inserts, Will came back with a drawing concept that we were very happy with. The final result ended up being better then we could have hoped, the two inserts are framed and hinged in a way that compliments their age. Will’s creative skills as a blacksmith artist really comes through. Having had the opportunity to look at other work that will has created we know that his artistic and practical skills will be in high demand.

We had seen Will’s work some two years before we moved into our house  so when we were looking for a special light for our cathedral ceiling open space living area we approached Will for some ideas. He came up with some exellent designs, was very patient with our frequent changes and, as you can see, the results is quite unique and has been much admired and commented on. We wish him success with his career and if you, like us, need something special for your home - contact Will.

Just a short message to thank you again for the handrail you built for us. Everyone that comes to visit asks “who made the handrail” ? We are very happy with our renovation and your handrail is the icing on the cake. Thanks again

Having seen Will’s work some years ago at a craft fair we decided his metal artwork was what we wanted as a feature on a plastered wall. We commissioned Will to create something very simple depicting a tree and birds (the birds, if possible, to be Willie Wagtails). Will has accomplished this extremely well depicting the restless nature of this agile bird. In the word’s of our daughter “Will has absolutely nailed it”.

I first saw Will's work at the Olive Tree Market's in the Junction and instantly I knew I had to have one of his beautiful jewellery tree's! What appealed to me the most was not just the brilliant practicality of the tree, but the unique and extraordinary design of this stunning piece. It's twisted steel branches provide the perfect abstract way of hanging ones jewellery. The sturdiness of Will's work has me truly believing that my jewellery tree will be an heirloom that will be passed down through our family for years to come. The design of the metal and the rustic wood it sit's on perfectly highlight's the decor of our home. I know now that I will be buying more! Will is not just a blacksmith, he's an artist; and its easy to see how he's won awards for his work!

Just a quick note to say thanks so much for the refurbishment of our fence. It’s truly been a pleasure having you make the railings. I really appreciate the care to detail and the attention you gave to how I wanted the rails to fit in the courtyard. I am impressed by both the workmanship and your attitude that you have to your art (the railings are so much more than just products) and I really liked the way we were able to collaborate to work on my initial thoughts to come up with something really special. Thanks.

We are absolutely delighted with the windmill !!!  You interpreted our design exactly and executed it faultlessly - and importantly, delivered it on time as well. Thank you very much. Our family members and friends think it is a very clever interpretation of an iconic feature of the Australian landscape. Kindest regards

It is a hard slog but you have a talent and should be using it. Your display in the exhibition in the Newcastle library in December was impressive, I particularly liked the wall pieces, Fireweld and Taper.
